Our Report: At a global AI summit in the UK, China's tech vice minister emphasized the importance of 'equal rights' in AI development and usage—subtly hinting at the recent AI chip embargo enforced by the US.
🔑 Key Points:
The call for 'equal rights' in AI comes amidst the ongoing technological tensions—Biden cutting off access to top-of-the-line AI chips from NVIDIA & AMD—between China and the West.
China's delegation at the summit was led by Vice Minister Wu Zhaohui, and prominent computer scientist Andrew Yao who advocated for tighter controls on AI, citing existential risks to humanity in the coming decades.
In 2022 China accused the US of trying to stifle their economic progress by cutting off their access to AI chip technology, and more recently, major tech players in China placed $5B worth of AI chip orders (uncertain whether they’ll be fulfilled).
The summit at Bletchley Park saw participation from global leaders, and a joint agreement—to safely and responsibly develop AI—has been reached between the US, EU, UK, China & 24 other countries.
🤨 Why you should care: It’s unclear whether the Bletchley Park agreement will truly improve diplomatic tensions and international collaboration amongst global superpowers, but we believe it’s a step in the right direction regardless.

Worldcoin (founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman) is working to establish a global ID network similar to India's Aadhaar, scanning irises with their "orb" devices for digital IDs and free cryptocurrency with over 2.4M people participating already.
WorldCoin aims to create a global identity and financial network, with potential applications such as distinguishing humans from AI bots and distributing universal basic income. Notably, there’s considerable privacy concerns as WorldCoin would have access to unlimited biometrics data.

Google has introduced generative AI tools for product imagery to U.S. advertisers and merchants, enabling them to create professional images for their products using AI (a complete game changer for small-scale entrepreneurs).
The tools allow users to generate images based on textual prompts, offering functionalities like background color adjustment and placing products in specific scenes. Amazon recently introduced a similar product to enhance the merchant experience on their platform—who will follow suit next?
