Our Report: Google is reportedly in talks to invest hundreds of millions in CharacterAI, an AI startup that provides free chat services with virtual celebrities, including the likeness of Billie Eilish, Einstein, and more.

CharacterAI was co-founded by ex-Google employees, providing free chat services with virtual celebrities, and offering a premium subscription at $9.99/month.
Google is negotiating to invest hundreds of millions in CharacterAI, possibly in the form of convertible notes (debt investment that can become equity later), which will increase CharacterAI's reliance on Google's cloud services and Tensor Processing Units for model training.
CharacterAI has garnered significant popularity within the 18-24 age demographic, accounting for 60% of its user base, which contrasts sharply with ChatGPT, who only attracts just 27% of its traffic from this younger age group.
CharacterAI's website reports 100M monthly visits, 4.2M active monthly users (ChatGPT only sees 6M), and they’re already a16z backed. A strategic investment in CharacterAI could help Google reach a much younger demographic.

Despite the expansion of ChatGPT and OpenAI's move to introduce a marketplace for AI "apps," (GPTs), investors, including OpenAI investors, remain optimistic about the future of AI startups.
They emphasized that the current developments are just an early phase in a long-term AI revolution, and their confidence suggests a landscape where startups can still thrive alongside established players like OpenAI. Will you be creating your own GPT with GPTs?
Last week we spoke a lot about Humane’s AI pin that starts their pre-orders on November 16th, this week we’ll be talking about 4 impressive features:
Palm projection—The AI Pin uses a laser ink display to project content onto your palm, which you’ll be able to control using subtle hand gestures.
Voice Command—All of your accounts, data, emails and reservations will be linked to your account, meaning that, at any point, you can ask your AI pin to retrieve crucial information.
Nutrition facts—In the demo video, a woman holds up a palm full of almonds, which the AI pin then analyzes to determine the protein and nutritional content of the snack (macro-counters will love this).
