Our Report: Brave (the privacy-centric browser, and our personal favorite) has introduced Leo, a new AI chatbot designed to offer "anonymous and secure" assistance to its users.
🔑 Key Points:
Leo, available on the Brave desktop browser, provides a range of services similar to other AI chatbots, such as translating, answering questions, summarizing web pages, and content generation.
To set itself apart from the competition, Brave has focussed on its privacy values through unique features: no recording of conversations/use in AI training and no login credentials required for usage.
Leo is based on Meta’s Llama 2 AI model and is free for all desktop users, but a premium version using Anthropic’s Claude Instant model (with faster responses) will be available for $15 per month.
Additional perks for premium users include access to higher-quality conversations, priority queuing, higher rate limits, and early feature access (probably worth it).
🤨 Why you should care: Brave is one of the first to really set itself apart from the competition with a privacy focus. The success of such a service will be a true measure of the public’s response to the littering of headlines damning the privacy practices of OpenAI, Meta, Google, and Microsoft.
