Microsoft has revealed that by the end of fiscal 2025—which is in June—they will have invested over $80B in AI-focused data centers, designed “to train AI models and deploy AI and cloud-based applications around the world,” with more than half of the investment going to the US, reflecting their commitment to the country and their “confidence in the American economy.”

“The United States is poised to stand at the forefront of this new technology wave, especially if it doubles down on its strengths and effectively partners internationally.”

This comes after Microsoft reportedly held talks with OpenAI, back in April, about building a data center to power a new supercomputer, called Stargate, which would cost around $100M to construct.

This heavy investment in AI infrastructure not only highlights Microsoft’s broader objectives and strategy and will undoubtedly strengthen its position in the AI industry, it’ll also create more jobs, boost the US economy, and solidify its relationships with local governments and businesses.
